System needed to be re-imaged after adjusting preferences

While setting the calendar preferences, my system became unresponsive. My Mac was fine and working properly with no problems before installing this application. The system became unresponsive to the the point of needing rebooting. Once rebooted, the computer would work OK for about the first minute and then become unresponsive again. Needed to completely re-image my machine.

Not good.
